Christmas Spirit – Christmas Scents

Christmas is a party. Specifically, it’s a birthday party — for Jesus —for the rebirth of light – here on earth.  Birthdays are meant to be celebrated. It’s why we say “Merry Christmas!”
Scents play a very important role in creating a christmasy, festive atmosphere.

Now wich are the most important essential oils for the holidays?

1.) Christmas Spirit

The spirit of Christmas contains three christmas oils: Orange, Cinnamon Bark and Black Spruce. Our sense of smell is closely tied to the limbic system, the part of our brains that processes emotions and memories. When we breathe in aromas that trigger happy memories from our past, it floods our bodies with feel good hormones that help us experience joy in the present as well. Christmas Spirit is a sweet, spicy blend of orange, cinnamon, and spruce essential oils that tap into the happiness, joy, and security associated with the holiday season. 2.) Cinnamon Bark

The warm, spicy aroma of cinnamon has been sought throughout the ages both as a valuable commodity and for its ability to improve wellness. Young Living cinnamon bark is meticulously tested to ensure that no dilution from similar-smelling oils has occurred. Cinnamon is thought to promote healthy cardiovascular and immune function. You can also use it to dilute and massage into chakras to create a soothing, relaxing sensation..

Cinnamon is a very traditional christmas spice. Could you imagine christmas without the sweet – spicy fragrance of cinnamon?

In the old days, people believed cinnamon to attract wealth. Thats also why its a key ingredient in young living essential oil blend Abundance.

Cinnamon belongs to the so called “hot oils” – meaning it can burn a little on the skin if you apply it undiluted. If cinnamon kisses you with its heat and burns on your skin, don’t panic. simply grab some pant based oil like olive oil, coconut oil or sunflower oil and rub in on top of where it burns. The burning sensation will cease after just a few minutes.

Use:

Use cinnamon bark essential oil to pamper yourself with a warming, energising foot massage: Mix a few drops of cinnamon bark with a little olive oil, heat it in a water bath up to 36C Celsius and rub it on your feet.

3.) Frankincense

Frankincense, Myrrh and Gold were the three gifts the wise men brought to the baby Jesus. And indeed – frankincense is worthy of the highest kings and priests! It has a sweet, warm, balsamic aroma that is stimulating and elevating to the mind. Useful for visualizing, improving one’s spiritual connection, and centering, it has comforting properties that help with focusing the mind and overcoming stress and despair. Thats why frankincense is one of the essential oils to use if you want to find inner tranquility and develop your inner vision of who you want to be and how you want to live.

Frankincense is considered a holy anointing oil in the Middle East, where it has been used in religious ceremonies for thousands of years. More recently, it has been used in European and American hospitals and is the subject of substantial research.

Frankincense is also a valuable ingredient in skin care products for aging and dry skin. The ancient Egyptians used it in rejuvenation face masks.

Frankincense protects and enlightens us. You can easily create your own Frankincense Spray for spraying your home, your shrine and yourself… simply mix a couple drops of frankincense with water in a spray bottle and enjoy!

4.) Balsam Fir (Idaho)

Balsam Fir is a conifer oil distilled in northern Idaho that has a refreshing and uplifting scent. Used in massage, it has a soothing effect on muscle and body discomfort associated with exercise. Balsam Fir is a traditional christmas tree.

In 1922 modern scientist found Tutanchamuns burial chamber, and one of the essential oils found in there was balsam fir. In the old times, balsam fir was also referred to as 2liquid gold”. Its very possible, that the third gift of the three wise men after frankincense and myrrh was balsam fir. 

The fragrance of balsam fir gives us the clarity and purity we get from balsam fir we also experience when walking in the woods. Balsam fir strengthens us form within, grounds us and slows our most of the time much too crazy every day stress down. She helps us to take time out and receive the blessings of life. 

When tired balsam fir brings us back our strength and power and helps us to balance our emotions. Balsam fir encourages us to breath deeply, straightens us up, encourages us, gives us consistency, grounding, harmony, compassion, clarity and a feeling of inner oneness.
